Our coaches are the heart and soul of our club. Please email us at sydneysynchroclub@gmail.com if you are interested in joining our coaching family!
Jo is our head coach here at the Sydney Emeralds. During a long career competing for both Singapore and Australia internationally, Jo has multiple achievements, most notably swimming in the team that qualified Australia for the 2016 Olympics. Starting quite young, Jo helped coach her juniors at her home club Gold Coast Mermaids, moving on to coach Sydney-based swimmers on her own and eventually joining us the Emeralds. Over the last 7 years, Jo has developed the confidence and skills of an impressive range of swimmers, from recreational swimmers just learning to swim to swimmers who represented Australia in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Yvanna first got introduced to artistic swimming in her hometown of Macau at the age of six. Since then, she has gone on to compete for Macau at big-ticket events such as the World Championships and Asian Games. After moving to Sydney in 2019, Yvanna has applied her expertise in the pool to expertise on deck and coaches our junior and senior competitive teams. It seems we aren’t the only ones who have recognised her talents as Yvanna was invited to coach at the Australian Junior National Team training camp.
Erica is one of our main coaches in the competitive program. Erica started artistic swimming in the Sydney Emeralds, just like many of our swimmers today before moving to the Gold Coast Mermaids. After 4 years on the Australian National Artistic Swimming Team representing Australia at numerous world events, Erica has returned to Sydney to pass on everything she has learned.
Aneta joins us after a decade of competing for Czech Republic in artistic swimming. After retiring from swimming, she turned her passions toward sharing her knowledge with the next generation, and has since coached swimmers of all ages, from recreational swimmers just starting their synchro journey to swimmers representing the Czech Republic. There are few things better than a cuppa hot chocolate on a cold day, and Aneta coaching our recreational and competitive swimmers at the Emeralds is definitely one of them.
Tessa is our home-grown coach. She started swimming with the Emeralds in 2012 and continued on until 2019, where she competed at Nationals with our masters team and won gold. Tessa now coaches our recreational swimmers, and has proven herself to be an extremely valuable member of the coaching team.
Stella is the youngest member of our coaching team. Growing up swimming with the Emeralds competitive team, Stella found that her passions lie in developing younger athletes. Now you will find her on pool deck, patiently coaching our very youngest swimmers. We are so excited to have you, Stella!
